Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on January 11, 2019.
The bordure in the arms is derived from the arms of the Bourgogne region. The chief shows two water-mill wheels, symbolising the two former water mills in the municipality, which were of great importance in historical times. They were operated by the monks of Saint Marien with the peasants and serfs of the town.
The amphora refers to the long tradition of producing and trading wines from the region. The goose feather refers to Anne Louise Germaine de Staël-Holstein, commonly known as Madame de Staël, a laet 18th and early 19th century author who lived some time in the village. The pen also refer to a certain Joseph Alexandre Villetard, son of the castle builder, but also diplomatic advisor and companion to Napoleon Bonaparte and co-editor of the Treaty of Campo Fonnio (1797).
The hat refers to the postal station in the village, the hat was part of the typical dress of the staff of the station.
