SCHNACKENBURG
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Lüchow-Dannenberg
Additions : 1972 Gummern, Holtorf, Kapern
Samtgemeinde : Samtgemeinde Gartow
Origin/meaning
The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from the 17th century. The gate and towers symbolise the fact that the village received city rights in the 17th century. The eagle is the eagle of Brandenburg, as the area was a possession of the Counts of Brandenburg until 1390. The colours are first used in 1891. The above arms were officially granted in 1965.
