BÖBIKON

Canton : Aargau
Incorporated into : 2022 Zurzach

Wappen von Böbikon/Arms (crest) of Böbikon

Official blazon

In Blau halbes weisses Mühlrad, überhöht von sechsstrahligem gelbem Stern.

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted on December 10, 1963.

The design was first used on a banner for the village in 1939 with a red wheel. Informally this was also used as municipal arms, but the arms were only officially adopted in 1963. The red wheel was then replaced by a silver one.

The design is derived from two arms in the local chapel; one showing the arms of Abbott Müller of the Abbey of St. Blasien, to which the area historically belonged. His arms were divided horizontally in blue and gold, with a golden star in the upper half and a black canting mill (Müller=miller) wheel in the lower half.
