WEIMAR-LAND (WE)
State : Thüringen
Incorporated into : 1994 Weimarer Land
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were never officially granted, but were designed in 1923.
The arms show the landscape of the area, mountains and forests, with symbols of mining and agriulture.
The arms were replaced in 1938 by new arms showing a swastika. In 1945 the old arms were restored, but soon abandoned as the symbols of the DDR were to be used. Only in 1991 the old arms were again used, but never granted.
