English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 30, 1962.
The silver eagle is taken from the arms of the medieval Lords of Dahn, to which the village belonged. Later the village was a long-time possession of the Von der Leyen family, which is shown by their arms, a silver pale in blue. The point shows the original village symbol, used in the 18th century on border stones.
The local seal from the 18th century only shows a crowned W.
Literature: Debus, 1988
