HIMMELSTADT

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Main-Spessart (until 1973 Karlstadt)

Wappen von Himmelstadt/Arms (crest) of Himmelstadt
Official blazon
German

In Silber ein blauer Wellenbalken; darüber ein dreiteiliger, roter Rosenzweig, darunter das rote Monogramm HP.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 27, 1975.

The silver and red colours are taken from the arms of the Diocese of Würzburg, to which the village belonged from 840-1803. The letters HP refer to the Himmelpforten Convent which was founded in the village in the 13th century. The initials can still be seen on historical borderstones. The roses are the symbol of St. Mary, the patron saint of the convent.

The blue bar symbolises the Main river which divides the municipality in two parts.
