Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 13, 2006.
The name Faxe is derived from the old word 'mane' and thus both the old arms below, as well as the new arms show a horse head. The two horses and the colours refer to the two horses in the Nordic mythology, Rimfaxe, the horse of day (silver) and Skinfaxe, the horse of the night (black). The waves refer to the sea and coastline of the municipality.
The previous arms only showed a horse head with the manes blowing in the wind. These arms were registered in 1975.
