Arms (crest) of Reinhard Pappenberger

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The chief shows the arms of the Diocese of Regensburg.

The lower half refers to the hilly landscape in the Oberpfalz where he grew up. It also symbolises the -berg (hill) part of the name. The three stars are taken from the arms of the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district where he was born. The stars are also a symbol for St. Mary and especially top the Mariahilfberg in Amberg, a place of pilgrimage of great importance to the bishop. The blue and silver are the colours of Bayern.
