The main colours, gold and black, represent the moors and the sandy soils in the municipality. The silver wavy bend symbolises the Hamme river. The upper part shows a tree trunk with a bucket, symbol for the old village well/pump from which the villager use dto take their water. The base shows part of a wall in the typical building style of the local farms.
