HMCS WHITEHORSE, ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY

Coat of arms (crest) of the HMCS Whitehorse, Royal Canadian Navy

Official blazon

Badge: Azure three bends wavy Or over all a horse forcene Argent.

Origin/meaning

The name Whitehorse comes from the Whitehorse Rapids which are said to resemble the mane of a white horse. The bends of the field represent the river and they are gold in remembrance of the Klondike gold rush.

The badge was approved by the Canadian Heraldic Authority on Noverber 1, 1996.
