RIAZ

Canton : Fribourg

Coat of arms (crest) of Riaz

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are canting; in old manuscripts the name is Rotavilla or, in German, Zum Rad. Rad is German for wheel. The colours are most likely those of the Diocese of Lausanne, as the territory hostorically belonged to the bishops of Lausanne.
