These arms have been officially granted on 29th May 1989.

The arms show the castle of Sant Esteve, that was bought by the king Pere II to the canons of Girona (1277) in order to create the town; its municipal charter was granted in 1279. On the castle the royal flag of Catalonia-Aragon. All around there are three chess rooks Or on Azure, taken from the arms of the Requesens family, counts of Palamós since 1484; the crown is also a crown of a count.
