The arms are based on the arms of the (von) Wrangel family, and symbolise Carl Gustav Wrangel, governor of Swedish-Pommern in the middle of the 17th century, and after whom the village is named. To further emphasise the Swedish history of the area, the Wrangel arms are shown in the Swedish colours blue and gold.
