Incorporated into: 1972 Bühl

Wappen von Balzhofen/Arms (crest) of Balzhofen
Official blazon
German In Blau ein goldener Schrägbalken, beseitet von zwei silbernen Hufeisen.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

Balzhofen became a separate municipality at the end of the 18th century. The oldest seal of the municipality showed already the bend in the upper and a single horseshoe in the lower part of the shield. The colours of the bend are not known, but it is likely that it is the bend of Baden. Later during the 19th century the bend was removed and the seals showed only a horseshoe on a shield.

Siegel von Balzhofen

The arms on a municipal stamp (1892)

The State Archives proposed new arms in 1900. The new arms show the arms of the Lords of Windeck, who ruled in the area during the 13-16th century, combined with the horseshoe. The municipality approved the new arms in July 1900.
