Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 3, 1987.

It is not known when the arms were originally granted. The oldest official use is known from a seal from 1749, but a coloured image is known from 1700 from a private document.

The meaning is not known. The letter E is the town's initial and also appeared on the arms of the Engelszell Convent in the town.
