RÖTHELSTEIN
State : Steiermark
District : Graz-Umgebung
Incorporated into : 2015 Frohnleiten
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on September 14, 1963.
The arms show the three mountains overlooking the municipality, namely the Röthelstein, Rote Wand and Ratengrat mountains. These names all contain the colour Rot (red), which indicates lodes of iron-ore.
The Posthorn or bugle represents the important high road from Vienna to Triest, which passed through the municipality. The stage-coaches changed horses at Röthelstein. The buildings of this post station can still be seen.
