Wappen von Ichenhausen

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The oldest known seal of the city dates from around 1500 and shows a divided shield with a dog and in the left half a bar. These arms were derived from the arms of the Lords of Roth, who ruled the city until 1574. In the 17th century the bar was replaced by the quartered arms of the Lords of Stain zum Rechtenstein (black wolf's hooks) and the arms of the Lords of Goss (bend). The two families succeeded the Lords of Roth. These arms were officially granted in 1819.
