Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 16, 1971.

The elements, scissors and sword, symbolise the rich Celtic graves that were discovered in the municipality in 1959. These thus symbolise the longtime existence of a village in the area. The scissors were doubled to form the town's initial. The colours red and silver are those of Hessen and Eppstein, blue and silver those of the Lords of Kronberg.

The arms below were proposed in 1956.

These arms are derived from the oldest seal of the village, dating from 1783. The seal showed a bishop rising from the clouds and holding a bunch of grapes. When the village became part of Nassau in 1803 the seal simply showed the name. In 1924 the old seal was restored. The identity of the bishop is not clear; the grapes indicate the importance of viticulture for the area.
