Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 21, 1923.

The arms are derived from the arms of the Lords of Meldert, known since the 12th century. The arms are also mentioned in the Armorial Gelre from the early 14th century. The arms are also used on the seals of the local council in the 13th and 14th centuries.
