Département : Bas-Rhin

Armoiries de Wolxheim

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show a wolf's hook, a metal device placed in a piece of meat. The meat was placed as bait for wolves, and it was aimed to cut the intestines of the wolf, when it had eaten the meat. The symbol was chosen as a canting symbol, the name is derived from Wolfgangersheim, which means (in German), place of the wandering wolf.
