HERXHEIM BEI LANDAU

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Südliche Weinstrasse (until 1969 Landau)
Additions : 1974 Hayna
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Herxheim

Wappen von Herxheim

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 20, 1923.

The fleur-de-lis and the stars in the arms are symbols of the Virgin Mary. The town became a property of the Monastery of Speyer in 1057. The patron saint of this monastery as well as the town's church is the St. Mary. The fleur-de-lis was also the symbol used on the seals of Herxheim, which are known since the 17th century. The colours are taken from the colours of the arms of the monastery in Speyer.
