CASTROP
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Recklinghausen
Additions : 1902 Behringhausen, Obercastrop
Incorporated into : 1926 Castrop-Rauxel
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 28, 1911.
The crosses are derived from the oldest seal of the Castrop Estate, dating from the late 15th century. The seal showed the cross of St. Andrew. Later seals showed the same cross, but since the late 17th century the 'open' cross has been used.
The colours were defined in 1902 and the arms were officially granted in 1911 with a mural crown.
