LICHTENFELS (LIF)

State : Bayern
Additions : 1973 Staffelstein

Wappen von Lichtenfels (kreis)

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 1st, 1977.

The arms shows in the right part the Imperial crown, derived from the arms of the former Staffelstein district. In the old arms the whole image of Emperor Heinrich II was shown. The left part shows the lion of Bamberg, taken from the old arms.

Wappen von Lichtenfels (kreis)

The previous arms were granted on August 26, 1958.

The lion is taken from the arms of the State of Bamberg, as the largest part of the district historically belonged to the State of Bamberg. The lower part shows the wickerwork, a traditional handicraft in the district.
