Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 4, 1818 and confirmed on August 26, 1844.

The arms show an image of the goddess Ceres (of agriculture) indicating the agricultural character of the municipality. The image was applied for by the local council and was newly designed. As no colours were specified, the arms were granted in the Dutch national colours, which were not changed in 1844 after the Belgian independence.
