METTERSDORF AM SASSBACH

State : Steiermark
District : Südoststeiermark (until 2015 Bad Radkersburg)

Wappen von Mettersdorf am Saßbach

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 8, 1963.

The first form of the name, recorded in writing, was Medwedsdorf, which means "bear village". Thus, a bear was incorporated in the arms along with the Saßbach stream.
