Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 3, 1955 and registered in 1978.
The partition per chevron stands for the ridge on which Mönsterås developed. The cross of St. John stands for the medieval Kronobäck monastery of the Order of St. John, which was situated south from the present municipal centre.
