District (Kreis) : Rendsburg-Eckernförde
Amt : Amt Hüttener Berge (until 2008 Amt Hütten)
Official blazon
(de) Von Gold und Blau im Dreibergschnitt geteilt. Oben eine Ameise, unten eine kreisrunde ornamentierte Zierscheibe in verwechselten Farben.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 12, 1995.
The ant in the arms refers to the old legend that the village was moved some kilometres to the west, because there were too many ant in the original location. The village was thus broken down and rebuilt on the present location. The ant is also canting (the name means 'broken down village' from aftobreken in the local dialect) for the name. The three-topped hill symbolises the hills around the village. The lower part shows a pre-historic plate, found in an excavation near the village.
