BLAIBACH

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Cham
Additions : 1972 Kreuzbach (partly)

Wappen von Blaibach

Official blazon

In Rot ein aufrechter silberner Drache mit Stachelschwanz, der im rechten Fang einen goldenen Klöpfel hält und den linken Fang auf einen goldenen Schild mit blauem Balken stützt.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 17, 1981.

The dragon is taken from the arms of the Reichanbach am Regen Abbey, which acquired its first possession in Blaibach in 1182 and has played a large role in the local history. The wooden hammer which the dragon is holding is a typical hammer for stonemasons and refer to the formerly important stone quarries and workshops in the village.

The small shield shows the arms of the Nothafft family, which had many possessions in the area.
