- (1939) Tarcza dwudzielna. W polu prawym błękitnym pół orła złotego z dziobem językiem i szponami czerwonymi. W polu lewym czerwonym, trzy kule srebrne: pierwsza na wysokości szyi orła, druga niżej na wysokości nasady ogona, trzecia w lewo od obu kul, pośrodku
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on March 2, 1939, but the colours were changed afterwards.
The arms date from the 18th century and were confirmed by the Austrian authorities in 1793. The historical arms showed the eagle of Upper Silezia (the region in which the tiwn is situated) with three eggs (of unknown origin) and two waves (the Sola river).
After the 2nd World War the wave was removed and in 1994 the eggs were shown als millstones. In the late 1990s the arms were restored properly, the colours, however, were reversed, to make the eagle the Polish eagle.
