BOISSY-LE-CUTTÉ

Département : Essonne

Blason de Boissy-le-Cutté

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show in the upper half the arms of the Counts of Selve, former lords of the village.

The lower half shows the main sources of income during the centuries. Until the 19th century viticulture was important and quite famous wines were made in the region. This is symbolised by the grape. The two hammers refer to the (former) stone quarries in the municipality. The wheat refers to the agriculture and the oak branch to the former forest and is also a canting element (Bois=forest).
