BAYONNE
Département : Pyrénées-Atlantiques
Official blason
- (fr) ===Origin/meaning===
The tower in the arms symbolises the fortifications in the city, the lion is the symbol of the power to defend the fortress. The meaning of the oak trees I don't know. The sea indicates that the city is a harbour town. The fleur-de-lis is the symbol of the French Kings and the old arms of France.
The arms by Guilbert, 1853 |
The arms in the Café Sanka album +/- 1932 |
The arms on a tobacco card by Laurens |
