MERKLINGEN
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Böblingen (until 1973 Leonberg)
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The village of Merklingen was a possession of the Counts of Calw until 1296, when it was acquired by the Herrenalb Abbey. The oldest seal dates from 1527 and shows a single lion. The lion most likely is derived from the arms of the Counts of Calw. The colours also are the colours of Calw.
