Selected collector's items from Germany:

SPEYER (SP)

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
Incorporated into : 1969 Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis

Wappen von Speyer (kreis)

Official blazon

(de)

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 20, 1965.

The whole district historically belonged to the State of Speyer. The arms of the State, a silver cross, can be seen in the right half of the arms. The fleur-de-lis is the symbol for the St. Mary, patron saint of the Cathedral in Speyer and the diocese. The wavy bar symbolises the Rhine river and the, formerly, important fishing in the river and its tributaries.
