ROTHENBURG (WÜMME) (ROW)
State : Niedersachsen
Additions : 1977 Bremervörde (1932 Zeven)
Official blazon
(de)
Origin/meaning
The new arms were granted on May 31, 1979.
The new arms combine the lion from the old arms with the keys from the arms of the former district Bremervörde.
The old arms were granted on July 15, 1929.
The arms show the lion, taken from the arms of the Kingdom of Hannover and used as a symbol for the Amt Rothenburg, one of the districts in the Kingdom. The cross is taken from the arms of the Abbey in Verden, as the abbey had many possessions in the district. The lower part shows the Wümme river.
