Wappen von Wildemann

Official blazon

(de)

Origin/meaning

Wildemann received special city rights (Bergstadt) in 1534. In 1548 the right to use its own seal was granted to the city, but this seal no longer exists. The oldest seals date from 1627 and 1739 and show the above composition of a canting savage (wilden Man), tree and the horse of Niedersachsen. Initially the man was standing in front of the horse, but this was changed in the 19th century.
