LOLLAR
State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Giessen
Additions : 1972 Odenhausen, Ruttershausen, Salzböden
Official blazon
Schild geteilt. Unten über einem roten, mit einem silbernen 1-Kreuzer-Stück belegten Schild fußoval eine goldene Brücke. Oben in Blau ein silberner, rotbezungter Pferdekopf, rechtsgewendet.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 3, 1967.
The arms show the local bridge, which played an important role in the development of the town. The bridge was built in 1711 and became important for the traffic from Hamburg southwards. The bridge was a toll-bridge, for each horse and cart a Kreuzer had to be paid. The bridge was such a success that, already in 1789, the wooden bridge was replaced by a stone bridge, that is seen on the arms.
In 1956 the arms were shown as below. These arms are derived from the oldest seal of the village, dating from the late 16th century. The arms show a linden tree and a bench, symbols for the local court.
