HANDENBERG
State : Oberösterreich
District : Braunau am Inn
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 9, 1978.
The arms are based on a local legend, in which the villagers saw a duck swimming with a hostia in its mouth. They then decided to drain the pond and built a church on the spot.
Even though the arms were only granted in 1978, the composition was already used by the end of the 19th century.
Seal from around 1900 |
