Origin/meaning
The arms are canting and show four castles (Quatro Castella) on hills: Montevetro (Montis Vetero: Montevecchio = Old mountain); Bianello (this, and not Canossa, may be the real place where Henry IV met Gregory VII in 1077); Monte Lucio (from "lucus" = sacred wood); Monte Zane (Mons Johannes, Mongiovanni = John's Hill).
