Crest: On a Wreath of the Colours upon a Mount Vert a Port between two Towers proper issuant therefrom a demi Dragon Gules murally gorged Or and holding in the fore-claws an Ostrich Feather Argent.
Motto: 'TARIAN CYFIAWNDER DUW' - The shield of justice is God.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 3, 1974.

The shield, crest and motto all combine elements from the arms of the former Flintshire and Denbighshire County Councils. The green and white wave represents the Vale of Clwyd and the Clwydian hills lying between the two counties. The cross and choughs from the Flintshire shield come from the traditional arms of Edwin of Tegeingl, founder of the twelfth Noble Tribe of North Wales.

The black lion of the Princes of Powys Fadog comes from the Denbighshire shield. In the crest, the Welsh dragon holds an ostrich feather, the 'Peace Badge' of Edward the Black Prince, and the castle recalls the many historic strongholds of Clwyd.

The motto, Tarian Cyfiawnder Duw means The shield of Justice is God.
