Official blazon
Origin/meaning
As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.
The personal arms are of vair and thus canting for the name Vehr, the French vair similarly pronounced as the German Vehr. The chief shows a plough, taken from the arms of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, the archdiocese in which he was born.
The motto, In vertiate et caritate, means In truth and charity.
The achievement is completed with the heraldic insignia of a prelate of the rank of bishop.
