Origin/meaning
The arms show quartered the arms of the Diocese of Utrecht (cross) and the arms of the Dukes of Burgundy (Bourgondë) in the other two quarters. This combination can be found on the seals of the bishop and some tapestries.
The arms in the Kattendijkekroniek manuscript in the Dutch National Library (ca. 1491) show the personal arms as an inescutcheon:
