Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 9, 1967.

The arms show two canting fish (Fisch in German, Vis in the local dialect). The fish also appeared on the seals of the Von Visbeck family, which originated from the village, however, on their seal from 1296 the fish were placed vertically. The colours are those of the historical County of Arnsberg, to which the village belonged.
