Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 11, 1986.

The upper half shows an Agnus Dei, taken from the arms of the city of Prüm and representing the many (former) monasteries and abbeys in the region. The base shows the pentagram taken from the arms of the historical Schönecken Amt (territory), which was already used on the seal of the council in 1388. The three crosses are taken from the Schönberg estate, now part of the Verbandsgemeinde.
