Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Austria - Österreichische Gemeindewappen |
LINGENAU
State : Vorarlberg
District : Bergenz
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 22, 1966.
The arms show a double-key. The key is taken from the arms of the Mehrerau Abbey, which used a crossed key and sword, for its patron saints, St. Peter and St. Paul. The Abbey had many possessions in the village and also appointed the local priest, hence the two crosses in the key of St. Peter. The key also symbolises the new parts in the East and West of the village.
The colours are those of Vorarlberg.
