Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Austria - Österreichische Gemeindewappen |
GOSDORF
State : Steiermark
District : Bad Radkersburg
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on December 14th, 1970.
The tower represents the lost castle of Trutzenau (castles disappeared quite often in these parts - mostly, because they were no longer inhabited and the local people had other uses for the stones).
In 1707, Austrian troops fought successfully against the Kuruzzen, rebelling Hungarian riders; the swords commemorate this encounter.
