Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 6, 1979.

The eagle is a symbol of victory, the mountains are the Botojuru mountain range. Both indicate the construction of the railway over the mountains. The cross and heart symbolise the first chapel built in the area, devoted to the Holy Heart of Jesus.

The shield is flanked by eucalyptus, a typical tree in the region.
The motto means 'Perseverance and labour conquered the mountain'.
