Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on October 8, 1981. The chief shows the cross of the State of Trier, to which the village historically belonged. The clasp is taken from the arms of the Schenk von Schmidtburg family, who lived in the village. The diamonds refer to the formerly important manufacture of thin roof slates.
