BRAUNFELS
State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Lahn-Dill Kreis (until 1975 Wetzlar)
Additions : 1972 Bonbaden, Neukirchen, Tiefenbach; 1974 Philippstein, Altenkirchen

Origin/meaningThe arms were designed and granted in 1937 and again on October 14, 1982. The city developed around the castle of the Counts of Solms-Braunfels. The lion is taken from the arms of the Solms family, with opposite colours in the base, to distinguish the arms of the city from those of the family.
