Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 6, 1939.

The tre eis taken from the arms of the Von Schüngel family, which had their estate in the village in late medieval times. Their seal showed a tree with a bar. To distinguish the arms, only the tree was taken from the family arms.

The division line is a canting element (Becke as brook, stream). The three wolf's hooks are taken from the arms of Amt Hemer.
