WEIL IM SCHÖNBUCH
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Böblingen
Additions : 1971 Neuweiler; 1972 Breitenstein
German | In Silber auf grünem Hügel zwei grüne Buchen, alles überdeckt durch einen springenden roten Hirsch mit goldenem Geweih.
Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on January 20, 1931 and were not changed after the merger with Breitenstein and Neuweiler. The arms have no historical meaning and were designed in the late 1920s. The arms symbolise the many deer in the Schönbuch forest. The first proposal for arms was made in 1923 by the State Archives. The proposal was a canting composition : two beech (Buche) trees on a mountain, and a letter W between the trees. The local council did not approve of this design and asked for a new proposal, which was the design granted in 1931.
